Advertorial - 5 sources:

1)

This advertorial doesn't feature opinions that are overly biased, instead focusing on facts that are important for the product/service they are promoting. The text is in columns, separated by borders, allowing the reader to do so with ease, not losing their place. This allows for easy promotion. I am incorporating this column design into mine, helping the reader read it easily.

2) https://www.onepulse.com/

The OnePulse app was first released in 2014 for Android and IOS, because the founders saw a gap between companies and consumers. They saw a chance to enable companies to interact directly with their customers, getting their opinions on their ads and products while still being anonymous.

3) "A tool for ordinary people to amplify their voice and for modern companies to hear them."

"To the community, OnePulse is not a survey app, but rather an opportunity to share and compare opinions in a simple way without information overload."

People don't see it as just another questionnaire, they feel encouraged to do it because they keep up with the world's situations without getting all the unnecessary details.

4) "3. Understand the client’s product. A good advertorial copywriter will be able to sound knowledgeable on the subject he’s writing about, even though he may be new to it. A great advertorial copywriter will know his client’s product inside out and will have conducted interviews to add further credibility and color.
When researching what the advertorial is selling, ask every “stupid” question that crosses your mind. These will probably be questions you might feel uncomfortable asking the client such as, “Wouldn’t it be simpler if your product just did X” or, “Doesn’t X product already solve that problem?” If the questions occur to you, you can be sure they will occur to a decent percentage of your readers as well.
Get in front of these doubts and inoculate your client’s credibility within your content." - Source
In order for an advertorial to be successful, it needs to at least appear as though the writer has a decent understanding of the product or service it's promoting. Tailor it to the product, not the other way around. If you find yourself asking yourself a question, you need to answer it in the advertorial.

5) "Advertisers expect that advertorials will not be read as an ad by users, but instead as a natural editorial contribution. By using this tactic in the context of native advertising, advertisers benefit from the credibility of the corresponding journalistic site. In the
best-case scenario, the reader is also given quality content that is perceived more clearly than the contained advert.

The places where people read advertorials, help give it credibility, as they wouldn't want to show something that would be out of character for the site. It is supposed to be engaging for the regular audience of where it is being shown. This is why advertorials should, while remaining unbiased, only focus on the positives of a product or service. For mine, I will try to keep it with formal language, but not old-fashioned so a lot of the target audience won't understand.

Viral Video - 5 sources:

1)

This is a similar idea to my video, as the advertising is incorporated into the episode, with them being comedic while explaining the advantages, as they go about their lives.

2) "So going viral...is a mix of creativity...choosing titles, tags and categories associated with a video uploaded" - Viral Video: Content is King, Distribution is Queen - Dario Caiazzo, Andrea Febbraio, Umberto Lisiero

A lot of viral videos are meant to be funny, so would get comedy tags and put into the comedy category. For my video, it involves two people throwing fits, and messing up the studio, this is comedy for a lot of people.

3)"In viral video, your job isn't to keep viewers from changing the channel. It's to get them to love what you've made so much that they want to stop what they're doing and tell their friends." - Live from #SXSW: What really makes a video go viral - Constance Aguilar

Viral videos aren't about being funny the whole time, they're about having one moment that makes people laugh enough to want to share the video. For my video, the tantrum is intended to be that moment. It's supposed to be shocking enough to get the viewer to share it.

4) This is an ad for Old Spice, a well-known brand in America, that is known for their use of black celebrities for their promotions. They've used Terry Crews, Isaiah Amir Mustafa, Kevin Hart, and Dean Cole.

For brands, what make their videos viral are the characteristics of their ads. For Old Spice, we associate skits with black celebrities. They want this to be their brand identity, keeping the ads fresh in people's memories. For my video, OnePulse is all about opinions, and some people get angry at other people's opinions. This is the reason why the actors throw a tantrum, because they don't believe the other opinions are correct. Being somewhat unusual should help the ad become memorable, and go viral.

5) "
Engage the Proper Emotions

Interest, excitement, awe, shock, humor; all these emotions are ways in which you can use a video to connect with people. If one or more of these emotions are present, it also makes your video far more likely to be shared.
When writing your script and planning the video itself, understand how you intend to connect with your audience and what emotion(s) you want to count on to encourage sharing. For example, the “Girl Learns to Dance in a Year” video capitalizes on inspiration and draws people in that way. Your video needs to hone in on an emotion in a similar manner."Source
For my video, there is meant to be a lot of anger shown, but I want the viewer to laugh at how much people believe their opinion is the correct one.

Target Audience:

Viral Video Demographic - The social group who the video is intended to appeal to.

Advertorial:

For the advertorial, my demographic is a slightly older group, around 40, both male and female and it could be any country. This is because it could be easily translated into the native language of any major country. I don't feel that a younger audience would enjoy it as they tend to respond more to visual stimulation, not just reading. For this reason, I feel they would respond better to the video.

Viral Video:

My demographic is teens and young adults (16-25) who are male, and predominantly white for mainly English-speaking countries, as it is useful as an extra source of income. The video won't target a specific audience, but will aim to avoid the elderly. This is because the behaviour doesn't tend to appeal to the elderly, so it would put them off the product. They also appreciate the type of comedy featured in the video. The reason the demographic is from any country, is because tantrums are funny no matter where you are from.
